Equipment Operator for College Township
College Township is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Equipment Operator. This position will be working under the direction of the Board of College Township Trustees with supervision from the Roads/Maintenance Supervisor. The applicant must be over 18 years of age with a valid Driver License. It includes a pay rate of up to $24.04 an hour based on Supervisor discretion and equipment skill sets with approximately 8 hours a week of scheduled work as well as the ability to be on an on-call/as needed basis for large projects, weather events and emergencies.
The individual accepting this position will be required to competently and safely use these pieces of machinery:
Snowplow: to respond in a timely manner to snow and ice events for snow removal by plowing and salting as needed which may require early morning hours, weekends, and holidays ensuring safe travel
Ford Sidearm mower: to mow Township Road berms from spring until end of season
John Deere zero-turn mower: to mow and trim Quarry Chapel Cemetery, College Township Service Center, river landing area, and Laymon Road as needed from spring until end of season.
The individual will also:
Ensure equipment is in proper working order including lights, fuel and fluid levels both before and after usage. If not, deficiencies should be reported to the Roads/Maintenance Supervisor or one of the Trustees as soon as possible
Comply with safety precautions including following all traffic and roadway rules, policies, and regulations per the State of Ohio ORC.
Follow College Township safety rules, policies, and regulations while working independently with minimal supervision
Promptly report any incidents involving operation of the equipment to the Roads/Maintenance Supervisor or one of the Trustees as soon as possible
Be checked off by the Roads/Maintenance Supervisor for familiarity of Township boundaries as well as safe and proper operation of the equipment to be used prior to operation.

The 2025 Annual Financial Report for College Township has been completed and a paper copy is available for public inspection at the College Township Service Center, 102 E. Brooklyn Street, Gambier, OH. If you wish to view the report please contact Courtney DeCosky, Fiscal Officer, by email at collegetownshipoh@gmail.com to arrange a date and time for inspection.
The Village of Gambier will now offer electronic recycling on the first Friday of each month from 8:30-11:00 am. Please find them in the parking lot in front of the library.
Please note: old/broken string lights like Christmas lights are recyclable.
